Summer activities

Vingelen is perfect for horse lovers - the mountains are totally accessible by horseback. Horses are welcome at many of our hire cottages and mountain farms.

This is a lovely nature walk with information boards about the nature, history and culture of Vingelen. On this walk you can both enjoy the scenery and gather new knowledge.

You will find many great options for hikes and rambles both in and around Vingelen.

'Vingelen Fjellførerlag' (Vingelen mountain guide association) offers guided tours of the village, the highland farms and the mountains (including Forollhogna National Park). You can opt for tours from one to several hours and you can learn about building styles, local history, highland farming, geology, wild reindeer, flora, etc.

Vingelen has a lot to offer to those who are interested in fishing.

Forollhogna Information Centre opened in June 2011 and is located in the multi-purpose building known as Bunåva, in Vingelen centre. Visitors of all ages can learn about the national park's wildlife and culture through interactive displays featuring topics such as the mountain farms, wild reindeer, biodiversity and climate. (The texts are in Norwegian). There is a children's corner with drawing facilities etc and there is a photo exhibition, which is periodically renewed.
The same location (Bunåva) also offer tourist information in the summer and free wireless internet.

The musem, situated in the centre of Vingelen, is 30 years old and houses objects collected from Trinity church and old Vingelen school. Free entry, except for special events.

Vingelen church, situated right in the centre of Vingelen, is one of the village's main landmarks. The present building was erected in 1880 and is a 'long church' in Neo-gothic style.

An out-of-the-ordinary shop! Open for groups by order.

There are endless tracks which are excellent for cycling - and a signposted cycle route from Lillehammer to Røros runs through the village. There is a choice of circular tours of different lengths and accommodation to suit both the day visitor and those who wish to use Vingelen as a base for their cycling holiday.

The off-road cyclist is well catered for, with pathways and tractor tracks in the gentle and hilly landscape in the woods and mountains.
